- Individualized Program Design
Every client will start with a complimentary strategy session. During this session we will build your individualized fitness roadmap. You must ask yourself where do I want to go?
Using this approach of “starting with the end in mind” gives us the picture to be able to work backwards and figure out where you need to be at the halfway point, a month into the program, and all the way down to what do you need to do today? We also refer to this as a big picture thinking.
E-Motion Fitness takes the approach of starting with the big picture and breaking it down into actionable steps for you to take today. A fitness program should reflect the specific goal or goals that you are trying to achieve and the exact steps you need to take to achieve them.
- Custom Training
Never wonder what to do in the gym or how to do it again!
We will walk you through a simple movement assessment and use that info, plus your personal goals, to create a custom plan that includes strength, mobility, stability, core work, and metabolic conditioning in a way that is right for you.
You will meet with a coach weekly who will train you on your ever-progressing program.
- Group Sessions
Boost your cardio and enhance your strength in our high energy group classes that BURN calories and BUILD lean muscle.
These classes will set your metabolism on fire in a supportive community of high fives and positivity.
- women’s health & wellness
We know the unique challenges women are facing in today’s world. We understand women’s struggles with diet culture (e.g. restricting calories and overeating, emotional eating, diet hopping etc.).
We understand and are prepared to coach women in the areas of social media comparison, self doubt, lack of confidence, guilt, shame and body image.
At E-Motion Fitness we will help you change your relation with food and show you the behavior patterns around it. We will education women on the importance of food and its ability to fuel you versus it becoming the focus of your life.

About Us

joya whittington
Carbondale native Joya Whittington brings her love of coaching back to northeastern Pennsylvania to elevate women’s fitness and wellness.
A three-time National Junior College Athletic Association Coach of the Year, Joya spent eight total seasons as the head women’s basketball coach at Lackawanna College in Scranton. She also served as the Director of Athletics and Director of Student Financial Services.
Joya was an assistant coach at NCAA Division I Lamar University in 2013-14 and head coach at Goucher College in 2022-23.
She earned a bachelor’s (2011) and master’s degree (2013) in business from Seton Hill University. As an accomplished student-athlete, she helped propel the Griffins to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance in 2009-10 and the semifinals of the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals in 2010-11.
Joya married the former Ashley Wallis in 2017. They are currently raising a son, Levi, born in 2021.
In founding E-Motion Fitness, Joya brings a truly unique and dynamic approach to women’s overall wellness.

Ashley whittington
E-Motion Fitness co-founder Ashley Whittington earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Mansfield University in 2012. She has worked as a registered nurse for 11 years, with eight years of experience in emergency departments.
Ashley previously spent two years in Peru as a Peace Corps volunteer and community health educator.
Ashley delivered the couple’s son Levi via home birth and is a proud extended breastfeeding mother. She brings a newfound passion for women’s wellness and midwifery to E-Motion Fitness to offer a truly unique fitness experience.
